Snow capped mountains, frozen lakes, water streams, deep forests are some of the many views that one might witness while hiking on the trail. The total altitude of the trek is 12,500 Ft. and is not the challenging one except on days when the weather is extremely harsh.
Starting your trek from the base camp village of Sankri, the village itself is a beauty to watch and beholds beautiful views of the Himalayas, second day will actually mark the starting of your trek when you will trek towards Juda Ka Talab and then next day you will march towards the base camp, from the base camp you can spot the peak of your final destination which is Kedarkantha Summit.

DETAILED ITINERARY OF KEDAR KANTHA TREK
DAY 1Dehradun to Sankri
Drive Distance: 220 KM
Drive Duration: 7-8 Hours (Approx)
Your journey will start from the capital city of Uttrakhand: Dehradun at 6:30 AM. Our team will collect you and drive you to the village of Sankri which serves as the base camp village for many treks including the trek of Kedarkantha. The drive to the village is however a long one taking at least a minimum of 7 to 8 hours, but you’ll cross beautiful cities on your way one of which is Musoorrie, you’ll drive along with rivers like yamuna and not to miss the long, dark and deep woods and you’ll reach the village just like that. The village of Sankri is small and recently has started a zip line activity.
After reaching the village you will be served some hot and freshly made snacks and tea, you can relax for the day now.
There are some local cafes in the village you might explore them as well later in the evening we will serve freshly cooked food as dinner, have it and depart early to bed as tomorrow your day will start early and will mark the beginning of your trek.
DAY 2 Sankri to Juda ka Talab
Trek Distance: 4 KM
Altitude Gain: 6,400-9,100 Ft.
Your trek for the day will start from long pine trees and include a steep ascent and friendly dogs. You will mostly trek through the forests that day and will discover a path of snow some 1 KM away from the campsite of the day.
There are a lot of folk stories which try to justify why the lake is named “Juda-ka-talab” one such is that lord shiva was meditating in the forests and wanted to drink some water but since there was no water he plucked a strand of his hair from his bun (Juda) and threw it on ground which formed a water body.
Some locals also say that many years ago there were two separate water bodies which later conjoined to form one which in hindi means juda therefore the name. As for now we don’t know which story to believe in. It depends on the individual's imagination and beliefs but what these stories do imply is that the place is definitely a very old one and has seen so many seasons, weather, transformation and people. After walking for 1 KM or so in snow you will be welcomed by the Juda lake, it is a frozen lake during the winter season and you’ll be camping around the lake for that day.
DAY 3 Juda-ka -Talab to Kedarkantha Base Camp
Trek Distance: 4 KM

After a good healthy breakfast you will leave for your next destination, the base camp. The trek to the base camp is a rather easy one since it is a gradual ascent. The base camp will take you a step closer to your final destination, you can spot the summit from the base camp.
The base camp also has a lot to oer during the winter months of December and January. It is filled with snow and it is beautiful to watch.
A lot of trekkers who enjoy skiing prefer to ski there.
You‘ll be reaching the base camp before lunch on your arrival. They will serve you lunch after which you can take good pictures with your friends, enjoy the snow, make reels and and and can also try your hands on making a snowman. After reaching the final tea point the summit is just 750 metres away and a final climb if you take short breaks and climb nicely you will reach the summit before sunrise and will be able to witness the sun rise from your naked eyes.
There is a shrine made up of stones of lord Shiva, pay your respect there, you will be able to stop the mountains of Garhwals at its complete beauty from the summit, dierent shades of white and blue for as long as your eyes can go, just make sure to capture all that, click good pictures, spend good time with your friends and then get ready to ascent down to the basecamp. While going down you’ll see a temple of lord Ganesha just below the summit, it has a lot of religious importance for the locals.
